Taking a small step at home, for humanity’s great journey towards net-zero emissions.
Today I planted some solar lamps in my garden to enjoy it with night lighting and thus replace the current lighting that is supplied from the mains. Yes, I spelled it right: I literally planted them, because the shape of the lights has a spike that is inserted into the floor and the solar panel is connected to the lamp and the whole thing is flush with the floor.
It was an interesting experience to ask myself if through this I am contributing to the energy transition in my home -towards zero emissions- and thus reducing global warming. My conclusion is that Yes, since I understand that the electrical grid loses energy in heat in the networks that go to my house, and also there are some energy sources that supply the network that today do not have a zero emissions balance and I help to reduce dependence on them.
I am very happy to have taken that first step, and he began to explain to me how I could collaborate more with the welfare of all through my energy consumption decisions.
The next step is to focus on the energy efficiency of other parts of my consumption, and to start developing a business model to produce energy as a consumer, what today they call pro-sumer.
