Home lighting automation, savings, efficiency and energy transition.
After planting solar lights in the garden, I continued the project of joining the global energy transition by taking energy efficiency measures.
I thought about «automation» at home – a first stage for the internet of things IoT-, I had a lot of fun visiting electrical equipment supply stores to find that today there are already switches, sockets, light bulbs, consumption meters, all programmable and can also be integrated to wifi to control from an application on the cell phone and remotely. I also found outdoor solar lamps with motion detectors – small and inexpensive – which makes them very effective for outdoor home lighting.
So, my house turned out working with solar powered outdoor security lights, all the important lights programmed, at a certain time they turn on and off according to the time of sunset, and I can also operate them by the traditional method from the wall when needed, from the cell phone the whole family can do it, while I travel operate them to manage home security, I have also included the Christmas lights -they were very nice and I can tune them to the neighborhood schedules! and with a low-cost equipment I purchased at the store I can now quickly measure the energy consumption of the appliances in the house to manage their consumption, with that equipment I am already documenting how much the vacuum cleaners consume – but that’s another story-.
I think that with this I am saving energy, more efficient domestic energy management, I even save human energy because I no longer have to go around the house to turn off the lights; all contributing to the energy transition because I need less energy to live.
As for the costs, I found reasonable prices for the equipment – outlets, outdoor solar lights, energy meter, light bulbs – I think those products could already be considered consumer products, between 11 to 25 USD each – enough to buy one each month and make it fun without the cost of the equipment, but I think it would be a good idea to buy one each month.tion. I am sure in the medium term there will be a good return on investment.
with the efficiency that will have the use of lighting in general, in addition to the fact that some of them are solar powered and the garden has become safer with automatic lights.
